Florida man accused of killing his mother

On Behalf of | Oct 31, 2014 | Violent Crimes |

Criminal charges are never a good thing, especially charges for particularly violent crimes such as homicide or sexual assault. Even if you are innocent, you risk being a pariah in your community as soon as the media gets a hold of your name and photo. There is also the chance that you may actually be convicted even if you are innocent, which is why you need to defend yourself with the help of someone who knows how to handle criminal charges in Florida.

A Florida man was recently stopped in Maryland when a local law enforcement agent thought he recognized the allegedly stolen car. The man was then charged with second-degree homicide and grand theft auto, with authorities claiming that he murdered his mother and then stole her car. Unfortunately for the accused, he was arrested for stealing the same car just a few months prior to this incident.

In cases like these, where the accused has a history of crime, defending yourself can be an especially uphill battle, since many might take your history and use it to affirm your guilt. However, just because somebody stole a car does not mean they are capable of murder. Proving this to the courts and the jury is one of the most important things in a criminal case.

Another important thing is ensuring that all protocols and procedures are followed. Even as an accused criminal, you still have rights that must be respected. In some cases, police officers search too zealously for incriminating evidence, and if this evidence is obtained illegally, the charges could be dropped altogether. If you are accused of a violent crime, make haste in building your defense, because the prosecution is hard at work to see you convicted.
