When most people think of sex crimes, they imagine a situation where someone sexually assaults another person by forcefully penetrating them against their will or coercing them into consenting to something they do not want to do. While these are certainly common types of sex crimes, there are other types of sex crimes as well, such as crimes committed against minors. When you bring minors into the equation, things can get much more complicated, even if you are not even dealing with issues of penetration.
Recently in Florida, a piano teacher was arrested for sex crimes regarding recordings of explicit acts committed with an infant. Reports claim that the woman recorded videos of herself breast-feeding an infant while performing sexually charged acts, such as rubbing herself and the baby with oil. These videos were made available for download for a price, and it is through one man who paid for the videos that police were able to find the woman.
The piano teacher is facing four charges, including cruelty toward a child and other such sexual offenses. Because there is such a young infant involved, the legal penalties of a conviction will likely be extremely severe, since the law often holds more serious consequences in casing of child pornography or sex crimes committed against a minor. With video evidence of the acts occurring, it may seem fruitless for this woman to mount a legal defense, but nothing could be further from the truth.
Given the woman’s situation, it is important that she takes legal action in her defense. There is no such thing as an open-and-shut case, and there are always legal avenues of defense that accused individuals can pursue.
